As
far as most recent records show, our family can be traced from 1518
in Dartmouth, Devon, England with John Plumleigh, though other records
indicate that we go as far back as 1400. Then, we jump to our most recent
ancestor, Dr. Thomas Plumleigh, my Great Great Grandfather, who was
born in Bristol, England in 1797, and emigrated first in New York around
1830, then shortly after to Algonquin, Illinois.
Our side of the Plumleigh family began with one of the six sons of Dr.
Thomas, which was my Great Grandfather, Robert Plumleigh.
Betty's folks are the Joseph Callens on her mothers side, who came over
from France, and Walter Gisler on her Father's side, who came over from
Switzerland. Her Father, Walter Gisler, settled in Orange County and
became one of the most prominent farmers in Orange County, with extensive
holdings also in Imperial Valley, California.
I was born in Elgin, Illinois and Betty is a California native, born
in Santa Ana, California.
I am an alumni of the University of Southern, California, and a member
of the Phi Kappa Tau National Fraternity. In 1978 I received the prestigious
Robert Fenton Craig award given by the National Blue Key Honor Society,
and am also a member of Blue Key, Order of Omega and the most prestigious
Skull and Dagger Society.

Betty received her Undergraduate Degree from Immaculate Heart College
and her Masters Degree from USC and is a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta
Sorority.
Our Daughter and Son in Law are both USC graduates. Our Daughter, Karen
is a member of the Alpha Phi Sorority and our Son in Law, David Cortney
is a member of Phi Kappa Tau National Fraternity.
They have given us four beautiful Grandchildren as shown in the family
photographs, and our oldest Grandson, John, who just recently turned
21, is in his third year at the U.S. Air Force Academy.
